Testimonials - LIC Massage Therapy

Experience The LIC Massage Therapy Difference For Yourself

J. Castilla.  Squash Professional NYC

"Raul is highly skilled and extremely professional, clean, sports-focused, gifted in finding the sources of pain or any kind of chronic tension that may be bothering you. I have a very intense training and coaching routine that occasionally leaves my back and hamstrings quite “bruised.” After having a session with Raul I normally feel relieved from any muscular pains or muscular tension."

Bhaswati Bhattacharya,MD, MPH

"There are thousands of therapists in the City. For over ten years, Raul has been one of the only massage therapists that I allow to work on me. Why? As a holistic physician doing energywork on patients every day, I need to work with someone who understands how to work with my bones and my breath, my muscles and my mind. He enters my energy field with nurturing and intensity together. When I am not in Kerala getting authentic Ayurvedic massages, I come to Raul and let him knead me with the same Ayurvedic oils, his magical selection of music, aromatherapy, and strong, gentle hands. His technique is excellent, and his energy wholesome."

Doria S.

"Raul is the best massage therapist I have ever encountered. There are several reasons for this.  First he is highly skilled and extremely knowledgeable about his work.  Secondly, he is very smart, and carefully listens to the client so that he can provide the best solutions.  And thirdly, he is warm and kind.  And funny.  It doesn’t get much better than this."

Licensed Massage Therapy - The Difference

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:

  • Decreased anxiety
  • Enhanced sleep quality
  • Greater energy
  • Improved concentration
  • Increased circulation
  • Reduced fatigue

Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion
  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays
  • Ease medication dependence
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts
  • Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin
  • Increase joint flexibility
  • Lessen depression and anxiety
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation
  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling
  • Reduce spasms and cramping
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller
  • Relieve migraine pain

Let us help transition you into a more relaxed, happier and harmonious world. Feel free to call us now at 718.478.1951 to make an appointment.

Modern Therapy: Active Isolated Stretching

At LIC Massage Therapy we practice the Mattes Method of Active Isolated Stretching and strengthening (AIS). Owner / Therapist Raul was trained by Aaron Mattes, developer of the Mattes Method of AIS.

Active Isolated Stretching and Strengthening (AIS) is a systematic method of muscle lengthening and fascial release that redefines what it means to “stretch.” AIS is a type of facilitated stretching that employs active movement on the part of the recipient to balance the pull of soft tissue across a specific joint, providing both functional and physiological restoration to both the superficial and deep fascial planes.

Developed by kinesiologist Aaron Mattes, AIS helps to decrease pain, improve joint flexibility and balance, expand range of motion, increase muscle strength, and restore physical function. AIS can assist in injury prevention, improve performance or aid with recovery after workout. Mattes is the father of Active Isolated Stretching and definitive educator on the topic of flexibility. Visit www.stretchingusa.com  to learn more.

Over the past few decades many experts have suggested that stretches should be held for 60 seconds. For years, this prolonged static stretching technique was the gold standard; however, prolonged static stretching actually decreases the blood flow within tissue and creates localized ischemia and lactic acid buildup. Similar to the consequences of trauma and overuse syndromes, this type of stretching actually works against the physiological laws that dictate how the body functions by potentially causing irritation and injury to local muscular, tendinous, lymphatic, and neural tissues.
