Free Concert in Jamaica
Safe Space, a nonprofit that serves at-risk youth in Southeast Queens, will host a free community performance at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 7 p.m. Some of Broadway's brightest stars will teach and then join children from Safe Space programs in a special concert which will be free to the community. (Seating will be on a first come, first served basis.)
The event is a celebration of the fact that Safe Space recently consolidated four program sites and its administrative and financial offices at a new Headquarters at 89-74 162nd Street in the heart of downtown Jamaica.
With the strong belief that everybody deserves to live in a healthy and secure environment, Safe Space offers a wide array of services focusing on mental health, community health, at-risk youth, violence prevention and school-based education enrichment. Based in Southeast Queens with a strong presence in Jamaica, Far Rockaway and Richmond Hill, Safe Space annually works for more than 10,000 individuals, including some of the most disadvantaged children and families in New York State.
