There is an exciting festival with American, English, Asian & Latin American Folk Music happening this weekend on Saturday, March 13, 2010,
New York, New York--The Music Traditions and People at the Renaissance School, 35-59 81 St, Jackson Heights, Queens. (Parking discount at the 82nd Street parking lot.)
The festival starts off with a free family concert from 11 am to 12 noon and continues from 12:30 to 5:30 pm with mini-concerts, workshops, and participatory sessions, which include blues, sea songs, open mike, jamming, tai chi, rap, poetry, and more. The day continues from 7:30 to 10:00pm with an exciting evening concert. Tickets are $15 for the whole day or $10 for either the afternoon or evening individually. Children: 13-18 are $5, 12 and under (accompanied by an adult) are free. (There are no tickets required for the free family concert.)

The school is 2 blocks from the 82nd Street Station of the #7 Line. The festival will honor Oscar Brand whose WNYC radio show “Folksong Festival” is in its 65th year.
