On November 4, the Gingerbread Players of Saint Luke’s Church will present Molière’s "Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme" (The Bourgeois Gentleman), the first of four performances, at Saint Luke’s Church in Forest Hills. The French master’s most fun and farcical comedy, interwoven with musical interludes, elaborates on the perilous pathway and hilarious outcome of a certain Monsieur Jourdain’s efforts to rise above his station in life. It will be presented in an English translation by Philip Dwight Jones. Performances are on Saturday, November 4 (2:30 p.m.); Sunday, November 5 (2:30 p.m.); Saturday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, November 12, at 2:30 p.m. The company’s trademark gingerbread cookies and cakes will be on sale during intermission. At a suggested donation of $15, with a discount rate of $12 for groups of six or more, the Gingerbread Players remain one of the best theater bargains in town.
