Please note that ASTERISKED (*) Queens farmers markets have NOT been updated for 2025.

Those markets WITHOUT AN ASTERISK, have been updated for 2025, which you can confirm by paying attention to the year.

For those markets designated AWAITING CONFIRMATIONS _ the info should be pretty reliable as it is based upon what was done in prior years. We have contacted the organizations and will update the info as we hear from the farmers / organizers.

Note that only three Queens farmers markets run year round - 1) Jackson Heights, 2) Sunnyside & 3) Forest Hills.

While there are some year round farmers markets, many of the farmers markets open in late May, June or early July. We update them when the information becomes available. But if not updated - use the information from last year which is generally indicative of the dates / times / locations for this year.

How To Shop Queens Farmers Markets & Green Markets

This report is about HOW TO SHOP the Queens Farmers Markets / Green Markets in Queens NY including the hours, food selection and maps of the locations of the farmers markets located in Astoria, Long Island City LIC, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Corona, Flushing, Jamaica and Glendale.

The seasonal Farmers Markets / Green Markets in Queens will begin soon. The Jackson Heights, Forest Hills and Sunnyside farmers markets are now open year 'round.

There are two shopping strategies. One is to go early for best selection, and the other is to go late to get the best prices. Naturally in the beginning of the day farmers have their entire inventory to show you, while late in the day, they may be open to reasonable requests for discounts so that they have less to carry back to the farm.

Greenmarkets / Farmers Markets - Queens NY

Ten of the fourteen outdoor markets are sponsored by Grow NYC which is run by the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation and the Council on the Environment of NYC. The Flushing Farmers market and the Jamaica Farmers market are managed and sponsored by an independent company - Down To Earth Markets. The Flushing farmers market is done in collaboration with the Queens Botanical Garden, and the Jamaica Farmers markets [Friday & Saturday] are done in collaboration with the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, a non-profit organization in Jamaica. One of the other farmers markets in Flushing is managed by Queens Community House, a non-profit and open near Queens College. And the last of the farmers market certain to open is operated by Brooklyn Grange, an urban rooftop farm.

LIC Farmers Market Items / Selection. In 2019 this Queens farmers market was downsized. Hellgate Farmstand originally was a network of small residential and rooftop growers in the city, but has since developed a relationship with upstate Canaan. For details see www.hellgatefarm.com.

In prior years they offered fresh seasonal local produce and small batch goods, like someone's signature hot sauce. Prior vendors included Wilk Apiaries, specializing in local and raw honey, Benchflour Bakers, a Astoria bakery using local and seasonal ingredients, and rotating farm vendors.

Special Services: Payments via cash, credit card and Venmo, plus Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), and Health Bucks. Compost / Food Scraps drop off daily year round from 9 am - sunset .

Regretfully, this farmers market is closed for this year [2022], and it's future looks uncertain. This Queens farmers market appears to have been discontinued as of 8/9/23. 2024 update - it's officially closed.

CLOSED - Flushing Farmers Markets - Queens Botanical Garden

Due to Pandemic & Construction in the Area this market was discontinued in 2020. The Botanical Garden does grow vegetables on a plot of land on their site which they periodically sell on summer weekends, but it's not a huge enterprise, and as of this post [3/9/25] they've made no announcements for 2025.

What follows below is OLD & DISCONTINUED.

FRIDAYS: 8.30 am - 4 pm. They didn't open in 2020 due to the CoVid pandemic and didn't reopen in 2021 or 2022 either. I spoke to them last year [4.29.22] and they told me they had discontinued this market.

Location: In front of the Queens Botanical Garden - at Dahlia Avenue off Main Street.

Flushing Farmers Market Items / Selection. This Queens farmers market includes fruits, vegetables, herbs, multi-grain bread, eggs, dairy, plants, meat, honey, chutney, pickles, cider and more - mostly produced and sold by New York State farmers. Also beverages & specialty foods.

The last time they operated this farmers market was in 2018. As of 2025 it's officially been discontinued. What follows is from 2018.

WEDNESDAYS: 9 am - 4 pm. They went on hiatus in 2019 due to a fire at the main building. It was last open July 11 - November 21, 2018. I'm not sure what its future is.

Location: Maple Playground at 67-09 Kissena Blvd. Near the Pomonock Playground across from Queens College.

Due to Pandemic & Construction in the Area this market was discontinued in 2020. As of 2025 it continues to appear unlikely to reopen. There is a food court / mall nearby which contains some similar shopping options - but not the same.

Deep Roots opened a Farmers Market at Fire Fighers Park on Grace Avenue following the Spinney Market closure.

LI Green Market had operated the Spinney Green market in Great Neck which they closed effective 2014. They continue to operate one at Kennedy Plaza in Long Beach on Saturdays and Wednesdays which opens May 3/7, 2025. See www.ligreenmarket.org for updates.
