This report is about HOW TO SHOP the Queens Farmers Markets / Green Markets in Queens NY. This includes includes the hours, selection and maps of the locations of the farmers markets located in Astoria, Long Island City LIC, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Corona, Flushing, Jamaica and Glendale.
The Farmers Markets / Green Markets for Queens will begin soon. The Jackson Heights farmers market is now going year 'round and the first two seasonal markets will open in June in Sunnyside and Atlas Park.
How To Shop The Queens Farmers Markets & Green Markets
Simply put, go early for best selection, and go late to get the best prices. Naturally in the beginning of the day farmers have their entire inventory to show you, while late in the day, they may be open to reasonable requests for discounts so that they can cart less back to the farm.
Greenmarkets / Farmers Markets 2011 - Queens NY
These outdoor markets are sponsored by the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation and the Council on the Environment of NYC, except for the two Flushing markets and the Jamaica market as noted below. These farmers markets are sponsored by Community Markets.
The Flushing farmers markets are done in collaboration with the Queens Botanical Garden and the NY Hall Of Science, and the Jamaica market is done in collaboration with Local Harvest, a non-profit organization in Jamaica.
