Artist Club Inspires Youth To Develop Their Talents
Jackson Heights / Spring 2009 and September 20, 2009. The Jackson Heights Art Club hosted a bake sale intended to raise funds for the club so it can continue its mission of teaching art to community residents.
JHAC Bake Sale - September 20th
I decided to check out the local bake sale sponsored by the Jackson Heights Art Club on Sunday. I found them along 78th Avenue, beyond the food stalls from the Farmers Market which was still going strong as I arrived.
JHAC had set up a number of tables for their outdoor sale. The tables included one for the sale of the baked goods made by the mothers of the club's young students. Another table alongside it was dedicated to enabling the youngsters to create designs on T-shirts [see top photo]. Behind the tables along a wall, there were many works of art on display that had been created by the clubs' students. Four of these works of art, made by the students taking the JHAC classes, are shown along the left and right sides of these paragraphs, including the first place finish.
I met several women from the club who had volunteered to oversee several tables [shown in the photo below]. And I thank them for providing much of the information contained herein.
