Noguchi Museum In Long Island City
February 8: Second Sundays - Poetry In The Presence Of Sculpture
At 3 pm on the Second Sunday of every month the Noguchi hosts Dialogues on Art, Architecture and Design. In February in the Main Gallery Christopher Stackhouse, Paul Foster Johnson, and Cathy Park Hong will present original work written directly in response to Noguchi or thematically in keeping with the ideas of community and identity.

Over 40 works from all aspects of Noguchi's work.
Through February 15, 2009: Full Figure And Portraiture
In Portraiture, full figure bronze sculpture Undine appears in its first public appearance since the 1920's, alongside a gallery room of the museum's collection of busts. The Undine sculpture is life size and shown in the photo at left. This magnificent work of art is a must see.

At 8 pm in the Little Theater the Jazz Jam Series presents bassist / composer Alpert Yilmaz. He is well known by musicians as a child prodigy in Turkey. February 13: Exiled

The puppet exhibit is about Chinese puppetry which began in the 15th century as a means of passing on folk tales [from Taiwan]. They also have a bountiful collection of things on a variety of topics, such as the Sunnyside Boxing Arena and films covering both of Queens' World Fairs. March 1: St Patrick's Peoples Day Parade
The annual St Patty's Day Parade begins at 2 pm in Sunnyside at 43rd and Skillman Streets. If you arrive at the starting point somewhere between on time and early you can hear the local politicos give speeches. The Parade winds its way up Skillman to Woodside Avenue and 61st Street. NYC Parks Department opened a new olympic sized pool in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Annual Fee is $75 adults / $10 seniors / and under 18 is free. You must bring a swimming suit and quality padlock to be admitted. The pool is open Monday - Friday from 6 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 9 am - 10 pm and Sunday from 9 am - 8 pm.
