Thursday, November 16, 2023 MoMA PS1 opens two new exhibits - Leslie Martinez: The Fault of Formation and And Ever an Edge which is a Studio Museum Artists in Residence Exhibit. Description. This was once an NYC public school which was transformed into a modern art museum with a courtyard. In the court yard during the summer they host Friday or Saturday night outdoor concerts. Admission Adults $10 / $5 Students and Seniors & Under 16 years free. Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 12.30 to 4.30 pm - Bringing Water to Light: Tibbetts Brook to Flushing Creek – a case study on daylighting panel and culminating workshop. Free. This is about how Flushing Meadows Corona Park was developed and has to do with climate change.
Description. This building was used to house the United Nations General Assembly from 1946 - 1950, when that organization was just getting off the ground. The museum was renovated in 2013. Ongoing exhibits include Tiffany Glass, NY Watershed, NYC Panorama & NYC 1939 & 1964 Worlds Fairs. Viewing these exhibits is free w/ admission. Wednesday - Saturday, December 6, 7, 8 & 9, 2023 beginning at 7 pm - Small Songs. They describe the performance as follows, " ... Brian Rogers assembled more than 100 hours of audio material, recorded solo, generally late at night, via modular synthesizer. Throughout 2020 and 2021, these recordings were meticulously (and exhaustively) condensed and sequenced into twenty nine very short compositions (or “small songs”), which unfold as a kind of abstract, auditory, autofictional narrative of shifting interior states, informed by a month-long cross country road trip Rogers undertook, solo, in 2021. Writer and cultural critic Claudia La Rocco composed the song titles in the form of a 29 line poem; the recordings were mastered by Stephan Mathieu; and the album was pressed in a very limited edition of vinyl LP’s which, due to a global vinyl shortage, only recently arrived...". Tickets run from $10 - $275.
