Queens / September 5, 2009. Friday night was LIC Space’s First Friday wine and cheese reception including a jazz band and an art after party at their other location. Friday & Saturday - Secret Theatre Long Island City
Saturday night is the last show of the Secret Theatre performance of As You Like It. The performance starts at 8 pm and tickets cost $15 [not sure - but you may get a $5 discount if you mention QueensBuzz.com]. Saturday - PS1 Warm Up Party
Saturday afternoon beginning at 4 pm at PS1 Art Museum in Long Island City is live music or a DJ in their court yard [$10 admission]. Drinks are served and there’s great art work inside. It’s a perfect way to wile away an afternoon. Sunday - LIC Bar Female Songwriter Weekend
Sunday afternoon at the LIC Bar there’s a series of singer / songwriter performances by some of Queens fem fatale female musicians. This gig starts at 4 pm and goes until 9 pm in their court yard. This should be a fun event as the weather is supposed to be nearly perfect. And it’s free. Sunday - Irie Jamboree – Largest Reggae Festival In America
On Sunday beginning at 1 pm [doors open at noon] on the York College Campus in Jamaica [take the #7 to the E or F to 2nd last stop] is the Irie Jamboree. It’s one of the largest and possibly the largest Reggae festival in the country. Top stars from around the nation converge to entertain large, Woodstock style masses on the field of the York College Campus. Tickets at $60 at the door.
