JHBG Tree Lighting Ceremony 2009
Jackson Heights / December 16, 2009. Ah yes, another year gone by. So hard to believe that ought ten is only two weeks away. The Jackson Heights Beautification Group [aka JHBG] hosted another tree lighting event in front of the U.S. Post Office on 37th Avenue near 78th Street.
This year the emcee was Len Maniace and the prayer was given by the reverend standing next to him [see photo album for many more and larger photos]. Some of the teachers from the school provided a little holiday performance with their class[es] aiding in the reading and chorus. A man with a guitar accompanied the singing. Jackson Heights Celebrates The Holidays 2008
Jackson Heights NY / December 17, 2008. Jackson Heights celebrated the holidays by hosting a Kwanza, Xmas tree lighting and Menorah lighting event. This multi-cultural event was sponsored by the Jackson Heights Beautification Group. A number of local officials were on hand to make some remarks and I had the opportunity to interview a couple of members of the sponsoring organization. More on this event, including a number of photos will be posted later.
