Queens Takes 2nd Snowfall In Stride
January 12, 2011 / Long Island City LIC & Sunnyside / Queens Buzz. We set out just before 6 am. It was still dark out, but quite a few people were out. Some were snowblowing the walks of large apartment buildings while others were dusting off their cars. The folks on the subway platform didn't seem to mind the snow too much, but it made for packed seating due to the larger coats and the steps leading up to and down from the subway platforms were treacherous.
In Long Island City most of the major thoroughfares had been plowed at least once and numerous side streets had also been cleared. Here again we saw people shoveling, snowblowing and cleaning off their cars. Given the early hour, most of the sidewalks had not yet been cleared so most people were using the cleaner roads to get around.
