Bike Paths / Bike Trails in Queens
Bike Lanes in Queens
Queens is home to an emerging network of bicycle lanes. While Manhattan and Brooklyn have more highly developed bike lane networks, it is the intention of the NYC Department of Transportation to double the bike lanes in Queens over the next couple of years. They are currently in the process of soliciting community input to be sure all affected parties are involved.
As you can see by the first map below, the bike lanes in Queens are clustered along the East River in Western Queens, notably in the Astoria and LIC neighborhoods, and running north / south from Flushing to Jamaica in Central Queens. There is also a bike lane running the length of the Rockaways in southern Queens and one clustered along the central eastern perimeter of Queens.

Astoria Neighborhood Bike Trails / Bike Paths
Astoria is one of the Queens neighborhoods that has a connected network of bike paths and bike trails. They run from the Queens Borough Bridge in LIC, up the East River past the Queens Bridge and Ravenswood Housing complexes in Dutch Kills, and then onto Astoria Park. There are a number of nice parks along the East River that make for good picnicking.

Flushing / Corona Bike Paths / Bike Trails
Flushing has a number of bike paths and bike trails. They come in from the west from Manhattan, LIC and Astoria - through Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights and Corona. And they head south to Jamaica, north to Whitestone and east.

The bike paths that cut through Jackson Heights are east / west conduits. The bike trails come in from the west in LIC and Astoria and head to the cluster of trails in the Flushing area.

Jamaica NY Bike Paths / Bike Trails
The Jamaica bike trails come in from Flushing to the north and then head west toward Woodhaven and Forest Hills Park where there's a golf course. The bike trails / bike paths lead east toward Cunningham Park, Douglaston Golf Course and Alley Pond Park.

Long Island City has an emerging network of bike paths that accommodate riders coming off the Queens Borough Bridge from Manhattan. The trails head north to Astoria, east through Sunnyside and central Queens and south to Brooklyn.

Eastern Queens Bike Paths / Bike Trails &
The Rockaways
The Eastern Queens bike trails / bike paths take the rider to some of the golf courses and connecting parks. Cunninghama Park, Douglaston Golf Course and Alley Pond Park are a few of the Queens bike trail destinations.
The Rockaways bike path runs the length of the penninsula and is not shown here.
