Doughboy Park In Woodside NY
Woodside / December 2, 2007. The first snowfall of the season blanketed Doughboy Park in Woodside on Sunday. The weather system left about one and a half inches of snow. It was the first taste of winter and arrived just in time for the holiday season. High winds are expected on Monday, December 3rd.
Park History And Facilities
Doughboy Park was dedicated to the soldiers who served valiantly during World War I. There's a statue up the hill from the main entrance to the park that commemorates them. The park has a long hill overlooking Woodside in which many residents use for sunbathing during the summer and the kids use it for sledding in the winter.
Adjacent to the park is Windmuller Park and Virgilio Playground. These facilites include a bandshell wherein concerts are held during the summer which are sponsored by Woodside On The Move. The park also has handball courts, a running track and a playground for the kids.
