While generally Queens Street Fairs begin in April, this year we're going a bit deeper in the Winter quarter [January through March 2024], to identify some of the year round markets, which while not exactly street fairs, contain some of the elements of the street fair experience including an eclectic offering of merchandise and food items.

UNCONFIRMEDS. The 'UNCONFIRMEDS' represent street fairs held in a prior year, which we believe are returning, but for which we have not yet confirmed details for 2024.

• * Saturday, February 10, 2024 beginning at 11 am and ending at 12 noon [hypothetically] - the Chinese Lunar New Year Parade in Flushing. This year it's the celebration of the year of the dragon. The celebrations runs through February 20th, 2024. The year of the dragon brings challenges but also luck. Chinese New Year Parade Route in Flushing Queens begins between 37th and 39th Avenues along Union Street, marches south to Sanford Avenue, turns right [west] until reaching Main Street, where it turns right again [north] and heads back to the Queens Crossing Mall at 39th Avenue in Flushing. • * Jackson Heights / Corona _ Sunday, July 20, 2024 from 12 noon to 3 pm - Colombian Day Parade - marches along Northern Blvd from 69th Street in Jackson Heights to 89th Street in Corona. Usually there's a street fair in the vicinity of where the parade ends. In prior years it's included entertainment at 40th Road between Junction Blvd & Warren St in Corona - near Sabor Latino. Free.

• * Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 2 to 9.30 pm - Annual Festival Independencia Orgullo Colombiano, FIOC - at the NY Hall of Science at 47-01 111th Street in Flushing / Corona. The festival includes live music and dance performances. Tickets cost $12.50 and children under 12 are free, as are seniors over age 65. • * Astoria / LIC _ Thursday - Sunday, July 25 - July 28, 2024 - from 5 pm to 11 pm - St Irene Chrysovalantou Church Festival - This Astoria street fair is along 23rd Avenue from 36th Street to the Amtrak trestle. Traditional Greek food, music, and folk dances every night, as well as rides for the kids and a marketplace. The feast day celebration starts with a mass on Wednesday at 7 pm inside and continues with various religious services through the end of the feast on Sunday. On Saturday the street fair runs along Jamaica Avenue from Parsons Blvd to 170th Street. Music, food, entertainment and street shopping. The biggest street fair in Queens with a lot of music and entertainment mixed in. JAMS stands for Jamaica Arts & Music Summer. • * Rockaways _ Friday, Saturday & Sunday, August 23, 24 & 25, 2024 beginning at 6 pm, 5 pm and 4 pm respectively - The Rockaway Beach Surf Music Festival - at the Rockway Bazaar Beach Pavilion at 9701 Shorefront Parkway and 97th Street by the beach in the Rockaways in Queens. A whole weekend of music near the beach. In 2023 the festival was one of the biggest Labor Day weekend events in Queens, this year [as every year] it's a part of the Rockaway Bazaar concerts. Free. • * Sunnyside / LIC _ Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 9 am to 3 pm - St Raphaels Outdoor Flea Market - at 35-20 Greenpoint Avenue in Sunnyside / LIC. The market oftentimes has an eclectic array of items. This used to run May thru October on the first Sunday, but since the pandemic the season has been shortened and the schedule is no longer the first Sunday of the month, but rather an ad hoc Sunday of each month. We were told that this is the last one of this year.

• Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 8 am - 5 pm - The NYC Marathon runners begin congregating at Fort Wadsworth at the foot of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge on Staten Island beginning at 7 am. The Professional Wheelchairs take off at 8 am, the Handcyclists at 8.22 am, the Professional Women at 8.40 am, and the Professional Men at 9.05 am, with the last wave at 11.40 am. Staten Island is the starting poinit, while Brooklyn is the first leg, the Queens segment of the course is around the midpoint before heading into Manhattan, then north to the Bronx over the Willis Avenue Bridge, where they do a U turn by heading west over the Madison Avenue Bridge before turning south into Manhattan and Central Park.   • So you can do some math to figure out when to greet them in your borough. The fastest men complete the race in a bit more than two hours, while the average is 4 hours and 40 minutes. • Saturday, November 18, 2023 beginning at 7 pm - Queens World Film Festival Listening Tour. Described as follows, " ... The Listening Tour is a program of Queens World Film Festival that brings small groups together to video tape their thoughts on Hope and Resilience. The program launched in September 2021 and has produced 46 segments featuring school children, the kitchen staff of local diners, artists, teachers, community organizers, 8th grade environmental activists and many other of our Queens neighbors. Join us as we share segments featuring community members from Rockaway to Flushing...". At the Local 1302 44th Avenue in Long Island City. Free w/ popcorn and chocolate while supplies last.
