Halloween occurs on a Thursday this year. The Queens Halloween party celebrations begin the weekend before and the weekend after Halloween day itself. The following is a round up of some of the Halloween parties planned in Queens that are open to the public.
There are a lot of parties planned for Halloween Weekend and Halloween Day this year. There are costume parties and live music for adults, and parades and parties for the kids. This report will provide you with a sampling of party opportunities for adults in the borough of Queens surrounding the Halloween holiday. And this page also includes links to the kids Halloween parties in Queens, as well as Halloween parties in other boroughs.

Halloween is nearly here, so it's time to review your plans for a costume as well as for places to go. The normal weather around the time of Halloween is usually about 65 during the day time and around 50 at night. It's too early to tell what the precipitation will be as we approach Halloween, but we provide weather updates each Friday on the front page of this site which you can access by clicking the header above.

The Masked Marvelous Costume Ball in Long Island City Queens NYC

Description. The Masked Marvelous Ball Halloween Party is going to be held at the Materials For The Arts this year, for the first time in their warehouse since the pandemic. It's an artsy Halloween tradition, inclusive of roving musicians, local cuisine and beverages. Proceeds go to recycling materials through art projects. Tickets are $175 - $350 and in the past they generally sold out.

Culture Lab / Plaxall Gallery - Halloween in Long Island City Queens NYC
Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 6.30 to 11 pm, with an After Party until
Description. This isn't a Halloween party, per se, but rather a Gala fundraising event. There will be live performances, food and drinks with the proceeds going to support the Culture Lab. The Dress Code is "... fancy, funky, creative ...". Admission is $150 for the main event and there's an After Party ticket for $75.

The LIC Bar at 45-58 Vernon Blvd at 45th Avenue confirmed that - as usual - they're doing a low key Halloween costume party on Halloween night with music and drink specials. Description. Kids Halloween party, parade and trick or treat in Long Island City LIC Queens. They describe the event as follows: " ... a Halloween celebration ... including costume contests ... pumpkin decorating (while supplies last), and more Halloween activities ... Historically. In prior years the PS/IS 78 PTA had organized a parade along Vernon Blvd, followed by an after party which in 2021 took place where the LIC Flea & Food market used to operate. If I am not mistaken, their last Halloween Party was in 2019. I think that may well be the end of it.

Description. The 8th Annual MoMA PS1 Halloween Ball which this year is again entitled Halloween Ball with Suzanne Bartsch: Cirque de Musee at MoMA PS1. OLD _ NOTE DATE / YEAR _ Saturday, October 29, 2022 beginning around 10 pm until 4 am
Description. It appears they may have leased out the rooftop bar to Zeventa for a Halloween party. Tickets are $20.
Historically. The 2022 Halloween party [above] was held at what is likely currently rental space in the old Z Hotel, and the party appears planned by an independent. The Z Hotel was reportedly leased to Jeff Bezos & Amazon in 2019 / early 2020, when Amazon was looking into setting up an HQ of sorts here.

* Queens Halloween at the Goat [formerly the Gaslight Pub] in Sunnyside
Saturday, October 26, 2024 at night - Unconfirmed
Description. In 2020, one of the Gaslight Pub owners bought out the other, renovated the place and renamed it to The Goat, which is a favorite bar in Dublin, Ireland, of the owner's. So in 2021 he threw The Goat's first Halloween party and made it official, which the Old Gaslight had never done in the past. What that meant exactly, I don't know, but the unofficial Halloween party of the Old Gaslight was pretty good.
The old Gaslight Pub had hosted what I'd call a 'neighborhood bar Halloween party' in prior years, which I had attended on a couple of occasions. They generally have music playing and lots of party-goers came dressed in costumes for which they offered a prize or two. The crowd tends to be in their twenties, thirties and possibly forties, primarily from the surrounding Sunnyside, Woodside, LIC neighborhoods. The photo to your right was taken at the Halloween Party in Sunnyside years back.

Description. Saints & Sinners Pub doesn't generally host a Halloween party, but they oftentimes provide live music on Friday and Saturday nights and some of their clientele dresses up in costume over the Halloween weekend either going to or coming from the city. The live music is generally from 10 pm - 2 am.

2) They describe the event as follows, " ... explore our haunted house, take part in our costume parade, and enjoy face painting and pumpkin carving. Don't forget to bring your dancing shoes for our monster mash dance party ...". The first 150 kids get in free, with an Eventbrite ticket. After that it's $34 per person.

Historical Update October 23, 2023. Apparently the entertainment site found in 2022 [keep reading], became their new site, where there are events advertised for Club Amazura which I am ASSUMING are validated by Eventbrite where tickets are sold. Previously, as of October 17, 2022, the telephone number had been disconnected, the Facebook postings were old, and their website sent us to an entertainment site.

In years past, near the Halloween weekend, Flushing Town Hall threw a Halloween party in Flushing, but I haven't seen any Halloween events there since 2016 on their website.

Rockaway Alliance - Halloween Parties in the Rockaways, Queens, NYC

Description. The Rockaway Alliance is hosting its 10th Annual Hip Hop Halloween & Harvest festival. The festival was desribed as follows, "... painting a pumpkin, face painting and festive food. This event is free and open to the public. No registration required."
Historically. I couldn't find any party in 2020, 2021 or 2022, which led me to believe the event may have been discontinued. But it could have been that I just didn't find it, not that it didn't happen per se. In any case it's here this year [2023] and we'll try to do a better job of tracking it in the future.
