March 22: International Business Expo

March 23 - 24: Hispanic Marketing Expo
From 10 am - 7 pm. Learn how to promote products to the Hispanic market. Expo at Citifield at 126 Roosevelt Avenue in Flushing. Sponsored by Colombian radio company. Admission free.

March 2: Shredfest Queens Library Broadway in Astoria / LIC
From 11 am - 3 pm. Shredfest - to shred outdated sensitive personal and financial documents - at the Queens Library at 40-20 Broadway in LIC / Astoria.
March 7: Poletti Power Plant & John Liu
Begins at 7.30 pm. Discussion of plans to de-construct the Poletti Power Plant in Astoria, followed by a visit from NYC Comptroller John Liu. Hosted by the United Community Civic Association at Augustana Lutheran Church at 69-05 Ditmars Blvd in Astoria Heights.
March 8: Fairness Coalition of Queens on USTA FMCP Land Proposal
Begins at 10 am. Fairness Coalition of Queens talks about USTA proposal to acquire more land in Flushing Meadows Corona Park w/o replacing it elsewhere. The discussion includes how much money the USTA organization makes and how their wealth is allegedly not making its way back into Queens. At Make The Road at 92-10 Roosevelt Avenue in Corona.
March 8: Dominican Diaspora in Queens

March 14: USTA Park Expansion Project Hearing
Begins at 7 pm. Community Board 3 will hear ULURP comments about the proposed USTA expansion project requesting .68 acres of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Meeting open to all at Elmcor at 107-20 Northern Blvd in Corona.
March 14: Borough President Forum
From 6.30 - 8.30 pm. Forum of candidates competing to be the next Queens Borough President, including Tony Avella, Leroy Comrie, Barry Grodenchik, Melinda Katz, Jose Peralta, Peter Vallone, Jr. at the Greater Astoria Historical Society.
April 12: The Future of Queens: Borough President Candidates Forum
Begins at 8.30 am. Discussion of issues facing Queens by the candidates seeking to be the next Borough President. Hosted by the Queens Chamber of Commerce at St. John's Unversity at 8000 Utopia Parkway in Flushing. Admission free.
May 16: Mayoral Candidates Forum
Begins TBD. Discussion of issues facing NYC by the candidates seeking to be the next Mayor. The event will be held at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria. Admission free.

Community Board Meeting Schedule for Astoria
Community Board 1 holds its regularly scheduled, full Board, meeting on the third Tuesday of each month at the Astoria World Manor, 25-22 Astoria Boulevard at 7 P.M. The dates for the first half of 2013 are as follows:
