Noguchi Museum In Long Island City
January 9: Second Sundays - The Company He Kept
At 3 pm. Marion Greenwood [mural artist], Frida Kahlo [painter], Ruth Page [dancer] and Yuriko [choreographer] were friends and contemporaries of Noguchi. Guest curator Amy Wolf will discuss their art and relationships as they evolved in the 20th century. Free with admission.
January - April 24: On Becoming An Artist: Isamu Noguchi And His Contemporaries, 1922 - 1960
This exhibit explores Isamu Noguchi's career and early development. It includes earlier works and his interactions with; as well as influences on and by forty of his contemporaries.

January 23: Opening Day Celebration - Only The Lonely
From 12 noon to 6 pm on the 2nd floor. Photographer / Video Artist Laurel Nakadate presents her works of the past ten years. The exhibit includes themes of voyeurism, loneliness, the manipulative power of the camera and the need to connect with others. Included with admission.
January 29: Open Circuit
From 4 - 6 pm. The tools of surveillance are converted into instruments of creative play.
January - April 4: The Talent Show
Eighteen artists explore the concept of performer and audience in an exhibit that explores TV talent shows, social media and government surveillance.
January - April 4: Feng Mengbo
Interactive video game installation by Beijing artist who plays off of Super Mario Brothers and Street Fighter II. The game includes government propaganda and the hero is a Red Army soldier.

January - February 17: Structure Has A Life With Personality
We live inside of and surrounded by buildings. In this exhibit ten artists explore our association / interaction with buildings as an art form with personality. QMA cites its own building as one with multiple personalities having first been erected as the pavillion for the 1939 World's Fair, after which it became home to the first United Nations convocation and is now an art museum.
Perennial Exhibits: Panorama Of New York City & Tiffany Glass Collection
The panorama of the city of New York, created for the 1964 World's Fair and updated in the 90's is impressive to see at least once in a lifetime. And they also have a Tiffany Glass collection.
The first Sunday of every month is free from 1 - 4 pm, compliments of the MetLife Foundation. January 27: Know Your Rights Workshop
Begins at 7 pm. This is a workshop with role playing, addressing fourth amendment rights, the role of the police and on-the-street interactions with the police. It appears to be a real workshop, with real lawyers, not a performance art event. Admission free.

The pool is open Monday - Friday from 6 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 9 am - 10 pm and Sunday from 9 am - 8 pm. Annual Fee is $75 adults / $10 seniors / and under 18 is free.
