FYI - July 4th Fireworks in Queens was held on 6/30 in Astoria Park. The Macy's Day Fireworks is being performed on the Hudson River again this year, so it's largely not visible from Queens.

Noguchi Museum In Long Island City
July 1, August 5 & September 2: First Fridays
Museum stays open until 8 pm with a pay-what-you-wish admission. There's a cash wine & beer bar and the garden is a great place to relax.
July 10: Second Sundays - So Percussion
At 3 pm. A four piece percussion group collaborates with guitarist Gray McMurray, performing new works in progress that mix ethnic and traditional music, currently planned to be in a theatrical production. Free with admission.
May 25 - Sept 18 : Animal Drawings From Noguchi's Travels & Highlights From The Collection
An exhibit highlighting some of Noguchi's animal sketches from his travels. Complemented by the ongoing exhibit which includes a mix of rotating sculptures and objects.

PS1 Art Exhibits in Long Island City
July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30: PS1 Warm Up Parties
The new court yard installation, Holding Pattern by Interboro Partners, has been opened. Warm Up Parties begin July 2nd and run into September. Warm Up Parties start at 2 pm and run until 9 pm. July: Two Ongoing Exhibits
The Holy Mountain and Heads, two new exhibits which run through June 30th and August 15th respectively. The first is a film about the occult, metaphysics and psychic complexity, while the latter is an exhibit of sculptures of heads and psychology.
Through August 8: Modern Women Single Channel
This is an exhibit in videos done by eleven women from around the globe from the 1960's to the 1990's.
Through August 8: Laurel Nakadate - Only The Lonely
Video & film artist and photographer Nakadate explores loneliness by filming her entry into young women's bedrooms and instructs them to strip down to their underwear in front of the camera.
Through September 3: Any Ever
This is a video installation by Ryan Trecartin which was shot in Miami and includes seven non-connected movies dispersed through a number of exhibit rooms on the first floor.

July 7 - August 20: Boatel
Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings - probably starting somewhere between 6 and 8 pm. They're hosting films, lectures and what not on a floating boat / barge at Marina 59 in Far Rockaway in Queens. You can stay overnight on the boatel for $50 - $120 per night.
July 30: Shrines Of The Gowanus Canal
Workshop to build a shrine to EPA superfund site the Gowanus Canal. At Gowanus Studio Space at 166 7th Street in Brooklyn.

Both facilities open year 'round. Bring a swimming suit, a swimming cap and quality padlock to be admitted to the pool. And you can rent skates to use the world ice arena [both in the same buillding]. The pool is open Monday - Friday from 6 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 9 am - 10 pm and Sunday from 9 am - 8 pm. Annual Fee is $75 adults / $10 seniors / and under 18 is free.

From 11 am - 6 pm. Along 30th Avenue from 29th Street to Steinway Street.

July 28 - 31: Suite Summer Festival
2nd annual festival begins at 8 pm Thursday through Saturday and at 2 pm on Sunday. The weekend will include dance performances composed by ten choreograhers. Admissions $18 / $15.

Unity Stage Company - Spreading The News
July 28, 29, 30, 31: Spreading The News
Begins at 7 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 3 pm on Sunday. This is an Irish comedy by Lady Gregory with songs by Tom Ashton. Runs about an hour and admission is free.
