Noguchi Museum In Long Island City

March 13: Second Sundays - South Of The Border

At 3 pm. History as seen from Mexico by American artists in the 1930's including work by Isamu Noguchi. Mexico public works sponsored art in the 1930's. Isamu Noguchi was among those who created public art, in this case, in the form of a mural. Free with admission.

Eighteen artists explore the concept of performer and audience in an exhibit that explores TV talent shows, social media and government surveillance.

Interactive video game installation by Beijing artist who plays off of Super Mario Brothers and Street Fighter II. The game includes government propaganda and the hero is a Red Army soldier.

March 26: Going Green In Queens

Begins at 10 am and runs until 3 pm. Fourth annual environmental symposium includes meeting members of Queens green organizations like the zoo keepers and park rangers. There will be workshops on tree caring, alternative energy and a documentary film series. Free admission.

March: Public Indoor Basketball Court, Computer Labs, Exercise Rooms, Handball Court, Dance Studio & Ping Pong Tables In Queens

This is a beautiful, relatively new facility. They are open Monday through Friday 6 A - 10 P and Saturday 9 A - 5 P. Closed for important holidays. Bring padlock for locker and a change of clothes for athletics.

Both facilities open year 'round. Bring a swimming suit, a swimming cap and quality padlock to be admitted to the pool. And you can rent skates to use the world ice arena [both in the same buillding]. 8 pm on 2/16, 4.30 & 6 pm on 2/17, 4.30, 6.30 & 8 pm on 2/18 an 2/19. This is an experimental theater program which explores audience / theater interaction and all relationships by association. There are only six audience slots open per performance.

At 8 pm with one matinee on the 19th at 3 pm. A Chekhov play about three sisters whose father died. This is the story of their return to their home in a village far away from the bright lights and big city of Moscow. Admission $15.

March 26: Down The Rabbit Hole

Begins at 8 pm. This is a multi-media performance, including toy pianos, music boxes, electronics, video and sound. Admission $15.

The Chocolate Factory In Long Island City

This is the story of an Ecuadorian woman who's suitcase is accidentally switched with somone else's. In her quest to retrieve her belongings she encounters dreamers, lovers, fighters, a magical cell phone, books that come to life and the best damned guitar player in the world.
