Noguchi Museum In Long Island City

October 7: First Fridays

Museum stays open until 8 pm with a pay-what-you-wish admission. There's a cash wine & beer bar and the garden is a great place to relax.

October 9: Second Sundays

October 13 - April 22, 2012 : A Civic Action

Isamu Noguchi and Mark di Suvero founded the Noguchi Museum and Socrates Sculpture Park in the 80's in what was then a pretty obscure neighborhood. Things have changed significantly since then and this exhibit highlights four artists' vision of the future for the neighborhing Astoria / LIC community.

The museum is open Wednesday through Friday 10 am - 5 pm, and Saturday - Sunday 11 am - 6 pm. All programs are free with admission $10 / $5. First Friday of every month, pay what you wish. Click here to view a prior story about the Noguchi Museum in Queens.

An exhibit featuring 41 artists exploring the cultural impact of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. The exhibit avoids images of the attack itself, focusing on the cultural impact by looking at art before and after the attacks.

Begins at 8 pm, except Sunday at 6 pm. Oscar Wilde's play, originally banned, is based on the biblical account of the execution of John the Baptist by Herod. The story centers around Herod's step daughter who gets anything she wants. Admission $18 / $15 under 30 years.

October 20 & 21: Red & Black: Dances From the Past and the Future

Begins at 8 pm. Original expressionist contemporary ballet en pointe by Laura Ward / Octavia Cup Dance Theatre. Admission $10.

October 25 - 30: Othello

At 8 pm, except Sunday at 4 pm. Wandering Bark Theatre Company's rendition of Shakespearean classic about love, jealousy and betrayal. Admission $10.

October 27, 28, 29 & 31: POE: An Imaginary Waltz / Halloween Party

Begins at 8 pm. Grand Guignol [GG] show. GG is amoral shock theater, similar in genre to movies such as Pulp Fiction. show with Edgar Allan Poe tales as underpinnings. Halloween night - ONLY- includes after party. Admission $18.
