Noguchi Museum In Long Island City
October 7: First Fridays
Museum stays open until 8 pm with a pay-what-you-wish admission. There's a cash wine & beer bar and the garden is a great place to relax.
October 9: Second Sundays
At 3 pm Elizabeth Brown will perform traditional shakuhachi solos as well as some of her own compositions. Free with admission.
October 13 - April 22, 2012 : A Civic Action
Isamu Noguchi and Mark di Suvero founded the Noguchi Museum and Socrates Sculpture Park in the 80's in what was then a pretty obscure neighborhood. Things have changed significantly since then and this exhibit highlights four artists' vision of the future for the neighborhing Astoria / LIC community.
The museum is open Wednesday through Friday 10 am - 5 pm, and Saturday - Sunday 11 am - 6 pm. All programs are free with admission $10 / $5. First Friday of every month, pay what you wish. Click here to view a prior story about the Noguchi Museum in Queens.

October - January 9, 2012: Ongoing Exhibit - September 11
An exhibit featuring 41 artists exploring the cultural impact of the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. The exhibit avoids images of the attack itself, focusing on the cultural impact by looking at art before and after the attacks.

October 14 - 15: Film Festival In Long Island City
Begins Friday at 6 pm at the Z Hotel in LIC, with simultaneous events going on at the E-garage in LIC. Saturday the films and the discussions begin. Live comedy Saturday night. Sunday more films and discussions. A presentation of ten music videos made by local artists begins at 5 pm Sunday at E-garage.
