LIC Arts Open

May 15 - 19: LIC Arts Festival

LIC Arts Open is in its third (?) year. There are 'Nabe Night Outs' on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, where studios in various parts of LIC will be open to the public.

On Friday there's a New Music Festival which is a series of musical performances at a location to be posted by the end of the preceding weekend.

And on Saturday and Sunday there's Open Studios throughout LIC. We'll post the addresses of many of the artist studio buildings by the weekend.

Lastly, there are a number of unique one off events which participants have sent to us which we'll highlight by the end of the preceding weekend [5/12 - 13].

Unique art events going on during the LIC Arts Open: 1) Space Womb Jackson Ave LIC - Affordable Art, 2) TBD.

May 27: Liu Jiayin: Oxhide

Begins at 4 pm. Documentary turned fiction about real family life in China.

NYC Parks – Indoor Swimming & Ice Skating In Queens NY

The Flushing facilities are open year around. Bring a swimming suit, a swimming cap and quality padlock to be admitted to the pool. And you can rent skates to use the world ice arena [both in the same buillding]. The Flushing pool is open Monday - Friday from 6 am to 10 pm, Saturday from 9 am - 10 pm and Sunday from 9 am - 8 pm. Annual Fee is $75 adults / $10 seniors / and under 18 is free.

May 16 - 19: Greek Country Fair - Astoria

From 5 - 11 pm Thurs & Fri / Sat & Sun from 1 - 11 pm. Country fair in front of St Demetrios Cathedral in Astoria at 30th Drive and 31st Ave. Greek food, games, prizes and good old fashioned fair rides including the scrambler and ferris wheel.

May 17 & 18: Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company
